Step 1
Condition your clay by running through your pasta machine, folding and running through again. Repeat 6-7 times.
-or- warm your clay up in your hand and work with it until it is pliable.

Step 2
Roll clay out on thickest setting. Fold it over making sure not to trap any air between layers.

Step 3
a. Lay clay on non-stick craft sheet, place face molding mat over.
b. Roll from the middle out to the edges. This must be done heavily so your lines will show.
c. For added measure, press extra with your fingers around the face you are using while it is still on the clay.
d. Peel back the mat from the clay. Carefully peel clay off non-stick sheet.

Step 4
a. Lay face on a cutting board, trim excess off with a exacto knife.
b. Draw in texture on your face is you wish.. use your pencil.
c. Lay face on a non-stick craft sheet in a mini skillet or toaster oven.
d. Cover and bake at 275 degrees for 7 minutes. Take out and let cool.

Step 5
a. Sponge dual stick glue over entire face and let dry until it is tacky.
b. Lay a sheet of silver leaf over face.. gently pat the leaf down onto the tacky glue.
When leaf is adhered, rub gently over the leaf to remove any excess.

Step 6
a. Scoop a small amount of desired colors into palette spaces. Drip a few drops of water into each color using your scoop.
b. Start with your small spaces and light colors first.
This way if you should get powder into those spaces in the following steps you can easily remove it.
Using your small brush, mix the water into the powder until it is like wet sand. Pick up small bits and pack it into the
eyes and mouth areas.
Gently touch a small piece of paper towel to the powders. It will soak up any excess water.
c. Using your heat tool, heat until the powder is melted. (if it bubbles a bit, don’t worry, this is just extra moisture.. it will bubble out)

Step 7
a. Using your small brush, pick up small bits and pack it into the rest of the face areas.
b. Gently touch a small piece of paper towel to the wet powders. It will soak up any excess water.
c. Using your heat tool, heat until the powder is melted. (if it bubbles a bit, don’t worry, this is just extra moisture.. it will bubble out)

Add layers using the steps above until you have reached the desired colors and thicknesses.

Step 8

a. Cut your wire in half (2”-2.5” pieces), bend the wires into waves.
b. Hammer wires if that look is desired.
c. Lay in place on face. Heat area of enamel where the wires touch it. When it is melted, press the wire down to sink it into the enamel a bit. Let cool.

d. Glue pin back to back. If you’d like your back to be clean, you may sand any enamel or foil off before gluing the pin to the back.
